Episode 36:
My EXPERT guest is… Kimberley Wilson, a Chartered Psychologist, author, and passionate advocate for whole body mental health. As well as regularly featuring on TV and radio, Kimberley is also incredibly humble and, like so many of my guests, had not necessarily thought of herself as building an expert business.
In this episode, I’m quizzing Kimberley on how she’s drawn in such a vast and highly-engaged audience – by focusing her message, being clear on her values, and knowing what she is and isn’t good at when it comes to entrepreneurship. We talk about setting yourself apart in a noisy industry, staying motivated, charging for your expertise, and why you don’t have to share every facet of your personal life in order to have a successful personal brand – in fact, it can be quite the opposite.

Every week Lauren asks her guests a few quick-fire questions…
What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you started this journey?
As an independent practitioner what you do miss out on is having a team around you. I would like to work more on having a team…”
Why do you do what you do?
“Because I love it. There is nothing more fascinating than human behaviour, and there is nothing more joyous than seeing someone get their life back. It’s just the best feeling. And I feel as though I have a front-row seat to the best parts of the human spirit and it’s the most wonderful thing.”
What’s the best part about your job?
“When someone comes in and they say ‘I stood up to that bully’ or ‘I could have been horrible to myself, but I was nice to myself’ or you know, these little moments that, that show that someone believes in themselves more, and values themselves more, and believes that they are capable and deserving of happiness… is the best feeling."
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Just do the work. Get your head down and do the work.”
